Freelance worker

It’s a challenge being a freelance worker, whatever sector you’re in. Wouldn’t you like to know that the companies you deal with have good equality and diversity practices? That says that you will get fair treatment; whatever your background it will be your skills and professionalism that will count. If you have a disability, or are an older worker, for example, clients and customers with good equality and diversity practices will be open to finding ways of ensuring that you get a fair chance of getting the work, and reasonable working conditions if you win the contract.

It will also help you if you can show your commitment to fair practice in your contractual dealings with clients and customers. Use the resources on this website to produce your own personal “equality and diversity” policy and plan, and you can show your clients and customers that you take equality and diversity seriously.

Contact your Sector Skills Council or check our useful links page to find out what’s happening in your sector or local area and link up with like-minded freelancers and businesses at training and information events.
